OCTOBER 3, 2014 - PEBBLE ISLE MARINA

Oh, what fun we are having! Enjoyed a fun time with Navigator (Tom & Jan) and Average Loopers (Mark & Jane) and then 2 other fellow Loopers pulled in to the marina - Freedom (Carey & Martha) and Infinite Sea (Paul & Stephanie) so we all collected together at the restaurant where Tammy & Randy, the owners, treated us to appetizers OVER THE TOP...delicious hush puppies, deep fried mushrooms, deep fried pickles, catfish and veggies with dip. They are wonderful hosts here, and SO friendly and caring! In addition, they have the least expensive slips and fuel we have seen along the entire journey.

Three of the Looper boats left today and another joined us, so we are planning to all get together for dinner tonight. This afternoon we enjoyed a rousing card game with 2 of the couples.

Tomorrow we are renting a car (arranged by Tammy) and will spend the day in Nashville. Our plan is to be back on the water Sunday morning.

Jim preparing the dinghy for a ride to see the sights

Named Green Turtle Bay for a reason. LOTS of green turtles of all sizes!

Perfect location, just under the yacht club

Enjoying our location at Green Turtle Bay Marina

Clouds threatening rain when we left on our dinghy ride

House-boaters are the dominant type of boats we see in slips on the Mississippi

Green Turtle Bay Marina is very large...sections for sailboaters, house boats and power boaters

Hoping to see an eagle, but no such luck

Pretty scenery along the way from Lake Barkley to  Kentucky Lake on our dinghy ride

Leaves are turning here...seems like we're in Michigan

Fall is here!

An intimidating sight...a barge with tow passing us in the dinghy

Can't say enough about how nice, accommodating and friendly the tow captains have been along our journey

Rain clouds moving in and we're hoping to make it back to the boat before it does

Made it back to the slip without getting wet, and greeted by this green turtle family

They are all clamoring for food as we toss pretzels into the water

Steve, Brenda, Glen, Becky, Mark, Jim...where's Gina?!! Birthday celebration for Brenda

After leaving Green Turtle Bay...scenery along the Tennessee is beautiful!

An old granary, just sitting out in the middle of the river. Don't know the history, but looks a little "ghostly"

Anchorage at Harmon Creek

Andante (Sue & Tom), our card-playing friends joining us at the anchorage

The "restaurant" where we were hoping to have a nice meal. Settled for sandwiches, chips and a beer. Nice owner!

Andante & Patriot tied together for 2 evenings. SO much fun!

This picture doesn't make us look quite so little.

Tom & Sue with 2 nice pups out for our afternoon ride.

Crappie pots...several on the perimeter of the anchorage to attract crappies for local fishermen

Perfect weather and spectacular sunset!

Can't capture the true beauty in the pictures
