Welcome back, you loyal blog-followers. We have been incommunicado for the past few days due to lack of internet connection and phone service. We are now in a limited Verizon connection area so will attempt to post to the blog, but unfortunately won't have pictures to add. They will be forthcoming later in the week.
On the 29th we left Green Turtle Bay and dropped anchor, along with Sue & Tom Hamman on Andante, at Harmon Creek, near Camden, TN (made us think of you, Camden Schanski!! xoxo). This anchorage was a beautiful, private setting nestled away from the Tennessee River traffic. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, even jumped into the water to cool off, as the weather reached nearly 90 degrees and there wasn't much breeze to cool us down. We had a nice "throw-together" dinner and then played cards for the evening...a first for us along the way. We found another couple that loves to play cards as much as we do, so had great fun.
The next day (30th) our two boats left that anchorage and moved across the river to Richland Creek anchorage because it was noted on Active Captain that there was a restaurant/grocery store within a short dinghy ride. Once settled in, we rode our dinghies to the "restaurant" in hopes of getting a light lunch. While the "restaurant" wasn't officially open, we were able to purchase sandwiches, chips and a beer. We then had a restful dinghy ride around the area to enjoy the sights.
Today is another perfect day...very warm but a nice gentle breeze to keep us very comfortable. Two of our fellow loopers - Average Looper and Navigator just pulled into the anchorage area so we are planning to visit with them today. FUN!!
Andante left this morning, but we will stay tonight, move on to the Pebble Isle Marina in New Johnsonville, TN (the intersection of I-40 and the Tennessee River, for those of you who are following us on the map) tomorrow night for 3 days, and rent a car on Saturday for a day-trip to Nashville. We have tickets to see Kelley Pickler on Saturday night at the Grand Ole' Opry.
My sister works in Nashville. It's a lovely city. Enjoy your stay!
