SEPTEMBER 6, 2014 - SAUGATUCK
Weather was perfect today...except that the waves were WAY TOO BIG for us to travel a long distance.  We waited and watched throughout the day and finally left Holland at 4:45 p.m., knowing that the waves were bigger than we would like but that the wind was from the North, which would help us to surf to our destination.  While we had originally planned to go to South Haven today, our revised goal became Saugatuck.  It was a rough ride just outside the Holland channel but once we got Patriot aimed to the South it was fine.  While Jim took us on our surfing adventure I took a short snooze. We decided to anchor, rather than pulling into a slip so that we could practice our anchoring and dinghy launching skills.  Our Holland friends met us for another "good-bye" and we went to dinner at Wicks Park Bar & Grill to enjoy good food and friends, and a TV to watch MSU lose to Oregon.
Bill, Lisa, Chris and Angela having fun with us at Wicks in Saugatuck
