July 11, 2015 - Back to the Water Life

Ahhh...it is great to be back on the water!! Friends Ron & Amy took us to Muskegon yesterday morning to pick up our rental car, which we drove back to the boat in Baltimore. We arrived at the boat around 8:45 p.m., unpacked the car, grabbed a quick bite of food and crashed for the night. This morning we were very busy with getting things put away on the boat, taking the rental car back, getting groceries, etc. etc. Even with all the chores that needed to be done, we managed to hit the water around 2:00 and arrived at Bohemia Yacht Harbor in Bohemia Bay (still in Maryland) around 6:45. We will stay here tonight and leave bright and early to make the seventy mile trip to Cape May, New Jersey. It's at Cape May where our future travel will be dictated by the weather, as it is likely we will go to the "outside" on the Atlantic to reach our next destination - Atlantic City. There is an inside route, but it's shallow and requires a lot of concentration and attention to tides & currents. Friends Mark & Vicki on Blue Willow had problems on this stretch, so we will take lessons from them and hope for good weather to journey on the Atlantic for the next stretch.

We had a wonderful, but busy time in Ludington while home, but we had a lot of quality time with the kids and grandkids so we have our "fix" until we return home in September. We didn't have nearly enough time with friends and neighbors, but will hopefully make up for that in the fall.

We can't say enough good things about the folks at Anchor Bay East Marina in Dundalk, MD who took good care of Patriot while we were gone. The paint job is fantastic...although a bit brighter than we had anticipated. Patriot looks much different than she did, but the color is "growing" on us. We love the paint job and the wood floors. She feels new and fresh.

Traveling on Chesapeake Bay was beautiful today...calm, sunny, 90 degrees with a nice calm breeze. It was a day of enjoying the surroundings, driving from the bow and soaking up the sun. We are about 5 miles from the C&D Canal, which will take us over to the Delaware Bay, then to Cape May.

It's good to be blogging again, and we thank our loyal followers for anxiously awaiting our return to the water.
