January 4, 2014 - Settled into our Marathon House

Time just seems to FLY! On December 21 we moved the boat from the mooring ball in Boot Key Harbor to Key Colony Beach Marina. Debbie at Key Colony Beach Marina is absolutely wonderful - very accommodating, friendly, flexible and welcoming. Our slip was near the charter boats and some rental boats, so was a very safe and protected place to leave Patriot while we were away.

On December 22 we took Keys Shuttle from Marathon to the Miami airport and landed in Kalamazoo around 10:00 p.m. It was great to see the kids/grandkids once again, and we all had a wonderful holiday. Luckily, the snow had melted and the weather was relatively "nice" while we were home, so our bodies didn't go into shock over the weather change.

On December 30 we flew from Kalamazoo, sister Bev & brother-in-law Gordon flew from Flint, and we met for our shuttle back to Marathon from Miami. We are now settled in to our house on 11th Street in Key Colony Beach, have Patriot docked just outside on the canal, and looking forward to Dave, Jen & Kade's visit next weekend.

Bev & Gordon got a very small nibble of our boating life, as we spent two nights on Patriot, then had to travel in the Atlantic to get from Boot Key Harbor to Key Colony Beach. Luckily, the weather was good so it was a pleasant journey.

On our bike ride, ate lunch at Porky's...not the greatest food we've had

Beautiful area!

Sunset Grill, looks unassuming...

...but actually more like a resort!

Could lounge here all day.

Genious layout...play area, free pool access, surrounded by the restaurant/bar
